When it asks you how many "random quests" you want, select 30 for now. Many of these options increase the difficulty of the game, especially "persistent levels", "joke monsters", "small levels" and especially any of the "ironman" options, such as "always generate special rooms". If you've never played the game, select NO. For obvious reasons, these options can't be changed later. There are a few options that can only be changed at "birth", such as "generate persistent levels" and "allow small levels" and "you can receive fates, good or bad". When it asks if you want to modify the options: the options it's talking about are the "birth options". Highlight the option and type ? to see a (quite) detailed description of how it will affect your game. This guide is for complete beginners, and is intended to help you past the first few levels.īe sure to hit the ? key on any of the options during character creation: race, race modifiers, class, specific class, religion, etc. In fact, if you've never played ToME, just select rogue-assassin as your class, so this goes well, and pick what you want your second playthrough. Other classes will still get some valuable information from this guide, so please read. Back in The Chain again.I usually play rogues in ToME, so this guide will be towards rogues. Thanks for the help and letting me blow the frustration from the last try off again guys. I'm just ready to see advancement and now that I've gotten over this games only short coming (no information in this game) by getting around my distaste for meta-gaming I am. Imagine how frustrated you would be with the game and I can't walk away from it. I turned the game on for the first time 15 years ago and have never been in TotHK. I'm sure it has been done, but I'm sure it is insanely harder.Īll this said I love to hate this game. How would you come to understand what herbs to use for what inside the game? I have never found information on what each herb does in the game and I haven't seen a win without using that a ton. If you find the right guy in the right place in the middle of nowhere and understand the rambling way these things are related. So, if you wanted to go back to Zelda now you would have to look that information up again and cheat to win again. No character in the game will give so much as a hint. Without the copy of Nintendo Power that told you which bushes to burn and which statues to move to find the right dungeons in the right order the game can't be beaten. I hope there are still people out there that have what it takes to learn the game completely in the game but I feel good saying if any there are very very few. Mostly off because ADOM does not give you the information you need to play that game inside the game. I have played this game on and off for 15 years. I feel I'm going to become known by this phrase if I'm not careful but this game is 100% unbeatable without meta-gaming in my opinion. I read the guide book from to back once, I'm working on a second reading for the information I feel I need most at this point. I didn't know you could mouse over anything on that map.
#Dungeon crawl stone soup beginner guide code#
I could use the clue (because it doesn't deserve more credit than that) from the guide book to get into the valley, knowing the secret code used for The Tomb of the High Kings will be more than enough to narrow the field for Thank you as well.
Thank you, that will help me find it when I get back around to needing it.
